Funfetti Cheese Ball

Bunny Butt Cheeseball is my go to save the day dessert when I need something cute for Easter but I do not have time to bake a whole cake. You know that feeling when you promised to bring a treat, then suddenly it is the night before and your brain goes blank? This is the fix. It is sweet, creamy, and honestly kind of impossible to stop nibbling once it hits the table. The best part is everyone gasps a little when they see the bunny tail and the tiny feet, even though it is secretly super simple. If you have kids around, expect them to hover like little snack detectives the whole time you make it.

Bunny Butt Cheese Ball Ingredients

This is one of those recipes where the ingredient list looks familiar, but the final result feels totally party worthy. I lean into a classic cream cheese base, then add sweetness and texture with fun mix ins. You can make it as fancy or as easy as you want, but these are the basics that give you that adorable Bunny Butt Cheeseball look and that birthday cake style flavor.

What you will need

• Cream cheese, softened (full fat tastes best and shapes easier)
• Butter, softened (just a little for richness and smoother texture)
• Powdered sugar (adds sweetness without grit)
• Vanilla extract (a small splash makes it taste like dessert)
• Funfetti sprinkles (or pastel sprinkles for Easter vibes)
• White chocolate chips (optional, but so good)
• Shredded coconut (for the bunny fur look on the outside)
• Large marshmallow (for the bunny tail)
• Pink candy melts or pink frosting (for the little paw pads)
• Mini marshmallows or oval candies (for bunny feet)

If you love quick sweets, this is the same kind of low stress joy I get from making 2 Ingredient Peanut Butter Fudge. Different vibe, same payoff, people think you worked harder than you did.

Quick note from experience: soften your cream cheese properly. If it is still cold, the mixture turns lumpy and it is annoying to shape. I usually set it on the counter for about 45 minutes. If you forget, you can microwave it for a few seconds, but do not melt it.

How to Make this Easter Cheese Ball Dessert

This part is basically mix, chill, shape, decorate. It is more like crafting than baking, which is why it is so fun for holidays. And yes, it is totally fine to make it the night before. In fact, I think Bunny Butt Cheeseball tastes even better after it chills for a bit because the flavors settle down.

Mix and chill first

In a medium bowl, mix the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar and vanilla, then mix again. Fold in sprinkles and white chocolate chips if you are using them. Try not to overmix once the sprinkles go in, or the color can bleed a little.

Now cover the bowl and chill the mixture for at least 1 hour. If your kitchen is warm, go closer to 2 hours. You want it firm enough to shape without sticking to your hands like glue.

Shape the bunny body and tail

Once chilled, scoop out most of the mixture and roll it into a ball for the bunny body. Then take a smaller bit and form a second smaller ball for the “butt” bump. Press the small one onto the big one so it looks like a little mound.

Pour shredded coconut onto a plate. Roll the whole thing in coconut, pressing lightly so it sticks. Then pop it back in the fridge for 15 minutes so it firms up again.

Add a large marshmallow as the tail. You can stick it on with a tiny dab of frosting or a little smear of the cream cheese mixture. This is the moment where everyone starts smiling because it finally looks like a bunny.

Make the feet without stress

For the feet, place two mini marshmallows near the bottom, slightly angled outward. Add pink candy melt dots or little frosting dots for paw pads. If you want, you can flatten the marshmallows a bit so they look more foot shaped.

That is it. You are done. You just made a holiday centerpiece that also happens to be dessert.

For another crowd pleasing sweet option when you are in a festive mood, I also love making Butter Toffee Pretzels because they are snacky and disappear fast on a party table.

“I made this for our Easter potluck and everyone took pictures before they even grabbed a cracker. It tasted like a creamy sprinkle cake dip and the kids begged to take the leftovers home.”

What To Serve with Dessert Cheese Ball

This is where you can really make it your own. Bunny Butt Cheeseball is sweet, so I like pairing it with dippers that have a little crunch and a little salt. The contrast is perfect. You can also keep it kid friendly, or lean slightly more grown up with cookies that feel bakery style.

My favorite dippers

• Graham crackers
• Vanilla wafers
• Animal crackers (very on theme)
• Pretzel sticks (sweet and salty wins every time)
• Shortbread cookies
• Sliced strawberries (fresh and pretty)
• Apple slices (toss with a little lemon so they do not brown)

If you want to build a whole Easter dessert table around it, something creamy like Butterscotch Pudding is a nice extra option, especially for people who like softer desserts.

One more practical tip: set out a small spoon or spreader. Some people like to scoop a little onto their plate first, then dip. It keeps the bunny looking cute longer and helps avoid the double dip chaos.

Tips for Bunny Butt Cheese Ball

I have made this a few different ways, and these little lessons are what keep it easy and cute instead of frustrating and melty.

Keep it cold and it behaves

The number one trick is temperature. If the mixture is too soft, it will not hold the bunny shape. Chill it whenever it starts feeling sticky. If you are decorating and it gets messy, just put it back in the fridge for 10 to 15 minutes and continue.

More tips that actually help

Use gloves or slightly damp hands when shaping. It keeps it from sticking to you.

Pick fine shredded coconut if possible. It coats more evenly and looks fluffier.

Do not overdo the sprinkles inside. Too many can make it harder to shape and can cause extra softness.

Make it your own by swapping add ins. Mini chocolate chips, crushed cookies, or even a tiny pinch of salt can be really good.

If you are planning a full holiday meal and want something savory that cooks while you do the cute dessert stuff, Crockpot Garlic Butter Beef Bites Potatoes is the kind of hands off dinner that keeps you sane on a busy weekend.

Also, do not worry if your bunny is not perfect. A slightly wonky bunny butt is still a bunny butt, and people love it anyway. The vibe is playful, not museum level sculpture.

How to Store Leftovers

If you somehow have leftovers, you are doing better than me. Bunny Butt Cheeseball usually gets scraped up fast, but when there is extra, storing it is simple.

Place it in an airtight container and refrigerate. It keeps well for about 3 to 4 days. The coconut might look a little less fluffy after day two, but it still tastes great.

If the bunny feet start to slide or the tail falls off, just press them back on. Cold cream cheese is basically edible glue. For the best texture, let it sit at room temp for about 10 minutes before serving again, just so it is easy to scoop.

Freezing is not my favorite for this one because cream cheese dips can get a little weird and grainy after thawing. If you must freeze it, freeze the plain cheese ball base before the coconut and decorations, then thaw in the fridge and decorate fresh.

Common Questions

Can I make Bunny Butt Cheeseball ahead of time?
Yes. I actually recommend making it the day before. Shape it, coat in coconut, and store it covered in the fridge. Add the tail and feet a few hours before serving so it looks freshest.

What if I do not like coconut?
Totally fine. Roll it in crushed vanilla wafers, powdered sugar, or even finely crushed white chocolate cookies. You will lose the fluffy bunny look, but it still tastes amazing.

Can I make it without sprinkles?
Yep. You can leave them out and add mini chocolate chips or crushed cookies instead. The base flavor is still sweet and creamy.

How do I keep it from getting too soft on the table?
Serve it chilled and do not leave it out for more than 1 to 2 hours. If your party is long, put it back in the fridge for a bit, then bring it out again.

Is this safe for kids to help with?
Yes, and they love it. Let them roll it in coconut and decorate the feet. Just expect extra sprinkles to “accidentally” fall into their mouths.
