Ingredients
  

For the peach layer
  • 4 pieces Peaches, sliced about 1/4 inch thick Use ripe summer peaches for best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup Brown sugar For the caramel glaze.
  • 1/4 cup Butter, melted Melted in the skillet.
For the cake batter
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 pieces Eggs
  • 1/2 cup Milk or buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon or nutmeg (optional) Use for added flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt butter in an oven-safe skillet over medium heat.
  3. Stir in brown sugar until smooth, then arrange the sliced peaches in a single layer.
Making the cake
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and granulated sugar.
  2. Add eggs, milk, and vanilla extract. Mix until just combined.
  3. Pour the cake batter over the arranged peaches and spread evenly.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes, or until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  2. Let the cake rest for 10 minutes before flipping it onto a serving plate.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for an extra treat. Can use frozen peaches if thawed and drained properly. Resting the cake before flipping helps prevent sticking.
