- Mix warm water, yeast, and a pinch of sugar. Wait about 5 minutes until foamy.
- Stir in warm milk, melted butter, egg, salt, and the rest of the sugar.
- Add flour gradually and stir until it turns into a shaggy dough, then knead until smooth.
- Cover and let rise in a warm spot for 20 to 30 minutes until doubled.
- Shape into rolls, place in a buttered pan, and let them rise again for 15 minutes while the oven heats.
- Bake until golden, then brush with butter immediately after.
Notes
This dough is forgiving; if it feels dry, it might have too much flour. Always check yeast freshness and adjust flour for humidity. Store leftovers tightly covered and warm them briefly to revive.
