  • 1 cup butter, softened Can be substituted with margarine.
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Mascarpone can be used as a substitute.
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 4 large eggs Can be replaced with egg replacer or flax egg.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour A 1-to-1 gluten-free flour can be used as a substitute.
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Dark or white chocolate can be used for variations.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar For rolling the cookies.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together the softened butter and cream cheese until smooth.
  3. Add the sugar and mix until well combined.
  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix in the flour until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Chill the dough for at least 20 minutes.
Baking
  1. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough and roll them into balls.
  2. Roll each ball in powdered sugar until fully coated.
  3. Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are barely set.
  5. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For added flavor, try incorporating orange zest or peppermint extract. Pair cookies with vanilla ice cream or dunk in hot coffee or cold milk. Store cookies in an airtight container for freshness.
