  • 2 pieces Very ripe plantains Peel should be mostly black or heavily speckled.
  • 1-2 teaspoons Oil (avocado or olive oil) Just enough to lightly coat the slices.
  • 1 pinch Salt Optional, helps enhance sweetness.
  • 1 Cinnamon Optional, for a warm, dessert-like vibe.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F for about 3 minutes.
  2. Peel the plantains by slicing off both ends, cutting a slit down the length, then peeling it away with your fingers.
  3. Slice the plantains on a diagonal into pieces approximately 1/2 inch thick.
  4. Lightly coat the slices with oil by tossing them in a bowl.
Cooking
  1. Arrange the plantain slices in a single layer in the air fryer.
  2. Air fry at 380°F for 10 minutes, flipping the slices at the 5-minute mark. Start checking for doneness at the 8-minute mark.
  3. They are done when the edges are deep golden to brown and the centers feel tender when tested with a fork.

Notes

Best served fresh, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat at 350°F for 3 to 5 minutes to restore warmth and texture.
