Ingredients
  

Cookie Base
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Decorations
  • 1 cup chocolate candies (for spider bodies) Use mini chocolate bars or similar
  • 1 cup pretzel sticks Broken into smaller pieces for 'legs'
  • 1/2 cup candy eyes

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until fully combined.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  2. Remove from the oven and allow cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.
Decoration
  1. Once the cookies are cool, attach chocolate candies in the center of each cookie to represent the spider body.
  2. Stick pretzel pieces into the chocolate candies to create spider legs.
  3. Dot the candies with candy eyes to finish the decoration.

Notes

Let the cookies cool before adding decorations to prevent melting. Kids can help and get creative with different candies for spiders. Enjoy in moderation.
