  • 1 tube Crescent roll dough The classic tube you crack open.
  • 1 lb Breakfast sausage Mild pork recommended, but any preferred type works.
  • 8 oz Cream cheese Full-fat for extra flavor.
  • 1 cup Shredded cheese (optional) Cheddar or Colby Jack suggested.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven as directed on the crescent roll dough package.
  2. In a skillet, brown the breakfast sausage over medium heat, breaking it up until fully cooked.
  3. Once the sausage is cooked, add the cream cheese and stir until melted and creamy.
  4. Roll the crescent dough out and spread the sausage and cream cheese mixture evenly on top.
  5. Roll the crescent dough back up, place it in a baking dish, and pop it in the oven.
  6. Bake according to the crescent roll dough package instructions, typically about 20 minutes, until golden and bubbly.

Notes

Serve with salsa, top with green onions or chives, or add a dollop of sour cream or a fried egg for a breakfast dish. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge or frozen and reheated easily.
