Ingredients

  • 2 cups Pumpkin puree Not pumpkin pie filling
  • 3/4 cup Brown sugar or maple syrup Adjust based on sweetness preference
  • 1/4 cup Apple cider or water To help with simmering
  • 1 tbsp Pumpkin pie spice or a mix of cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger Adjust to taste
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • a pinch Salt

Method
 

Cooking
  1. In a pot, combine the pumpkin puree, brown sugar (or maple syrup), and apple cider (or water).
  2. Stir in the pumpkin pie spice, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Heat the mixture over low heat, allowing it to simmer gently. Stir often to prevent burning.
  4. Cook for about 20 to 35 minutes, or until the mixture thickens and becomes glossy, stirring frequently.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool before storing.

Notes

Store in the fridge and consume within 10 to 14 days. This recipe can be frozen for 2 to 3 months. Adjust sweetness and spices to taste. Consider adding a tablespoon of butter for richer flavor.
