Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pack family size pack of Oreos (regular, chocolate, or peppermint Oreos all work)
  • 8-10 ounces white chocolate chips or white melting wafers
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or butter helps it melt smooth
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract (optional) adds extra peppermint flavor
  • 1 cup crushed peppermint candies or candy canes
  • 1 pinch salt balances sweetness

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Crush the Oreos by placing them in a zip top bag and using a rolling pin to crush them to a mix of big chunks and smaller crumbs.
  2. Crush the peppermint candies or candy canes by placing them in a bag and smacking them until you have tiny bits and a few bigger pieces.
Melting Chocolate
  1. In a microwave safe bowl, melt the white chocolate chips with coconut oil in 20 to 25 second bursts, stirring each time until smooth.
  2. Once smooth, stir in a pinch of salt and the optional peppermint extract.
Mixing
  1. Pour the melted white chocolate over the crushed Oreos and mix until well coated and glossy.
  2. Fold in about three quarters of the crushed peppermint candy, reserving the rest for topping.
Shaping and Chilling
  1. Spoon mounds onto a parchment paper lined sheet pan, or spread the mixture out like bark.
  2. Sprinkle the reserved crushed peppermint on top and press lightly to adhere.
  3. Chill in the fridge for 20 to 30 minutes until firm.

Notes

Keep the treat in an airtight container. It can stay at room temperature for 5-7 days or in the fridge if warmer. It can be frozen for up to 2 months. For best texture, serve cold.
