Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened Full fat tastes best, but use what you like.
  • 1/3 to 1/2 cup pepper jelly Red pepper jelly is the usual, but any pepper jelly works.
Optional Toppings
  • 1 squeeze lemon Optional for added zest.
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onion Optional for garnish.
  • 1 pinch garlic powder Optional for added flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Put the softened cream cheese on a small plate or shallow bowl. A wide dish is recommended for easy scooping.
  2. Use the back of a spoon to smooth the cream cheese out, keeping it thick in the middle with a dip around the edges for the jelly.
  3. Spoon pepper jelly over the top, covering it like a glossy layer without drowning it.
  4. Serve right away, or chill for 15 to 30 minutes for a firmer texture.

Notes

Let the cream cheese soften properly before serving to avoid tearing the crackers. This dip can be made ahead of time by spreading the cream cheese in a dish and covering it in the fridge for up to two days. Add pepper jelly right before serving for the best texture.
