  • 1 teaspoon sugar or honey
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 to 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or melted butter plus more for the pan

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, stir together flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. Add 3/4 cup warm water and the oil. Mix until no dry patches remain.
  3. Let the dough sit for 10 to 15 minutes while you heat the pan.
Cooking
  1. Warm a lightly oiled covered skillet or pot over medium heat.
  2. With wet or oiled hands, scrape the dough into a rough ball.
  3. Set the dough in the pan, cover, and cook for about 10 minutes.
  4. Use a spatula to gently flip the bread and cook uncovered for 3 to 5 more minutes.
  5. Let the bread rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Try adding herbs, cheese, or cinnamon for different flavors. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
