Ingredients

For the base
  • 1 cup Creamy peanut butter Use your favorite brand for the best flavor.
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar Sweetens and helps set the bars.
  • 1/2 cup Butter Melted for best texture.
  • 1 cup Graham cracker crumbs These provide structure without being dry.
  • 1 cup Chocolate chips Semi-sweet preferred, milk chocolate works for sweeter bars.
  • 2 tablespoons Extra peanut butter Optional, for a softer chocolate layer.
  • 1 pinch Salt Enhances the peanut butter flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Line an 8 by 8 pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang to lift the bars later.
  2. In a bowl, mix together melted butter, peanut butter, powdered sugar, graham cracker crumbs, and a pinch of salt until it forms a thick dough.
  3. Press the mixture firmly into the base of the prepared pan using the bottom of a measuring cup.
Topping
  1. Melt the chocolate chips with the extra peanut butter in short bursts in the microwave, stirring each time.
  2. Pour the melted chocolate over the base and spread it smooth.
  3. Chill the bars in the fridge for 1 to 2 hours or until set.
Serving
  1. Lift the bars out using the parchment paper. Let sit at room temperature for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing with a sharp knife.
  2. Wipe the knife between cuts for clean lines.

Notes

To customize, consider adding a layer of mini chocolate chips on top or sprinkling flaky salt.
