Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 tubes Refrigerated cinnamon roll or orange sweet roll dough, with icing packets included
  • 1 each Fresh orange, zest and juice
  • 1/2 cup Butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup Brown sugar
  • 4 oz Cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
Optional Add-ins
  • 1/2 cup Chopped pecans or sliced almonds
  • 1/2 cup Dried cranberries

Method

Preparation
  1. Butter a 9x13 baking dish.
  2. Zest and juice one orange, saving the zest for the filling and juice for both filling and glaze.
  3. Open the dough tubes and cut each roll into quarters, then drop the pieces into the dish, spreading them evenly.
  4. Melt butter and stir in brown sugar, half the orange zest, a pinch of salt, and 1 to 2 tablespoons of fresh orange juice. Pour this over the dough pieces and toss gently.
  5. Sprinkle on optional add-ins like pecans or dried cranberries if desired. Cover tightly with foil or plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
Baking
  1. In the morning, preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Uncover the dish and bake for 25 to 35 minutes until the pieces are puffed, golden at the edges, and set in the center.
Glazing
  1. Beat softened cream cheese until smooth, then mix in the icing packets from the dough, powdered sugar, a splash of vanilla, the remaining zest, and enough orange juice to reach a pourable consistency.
  2. Drizzle over the warm casserole and serve immediately.

Notes

This casserole can be customized with various optional add-ins like nuts or dried fruit. It travels well and is perfect for potlucks or special occasions. Adjust the glaze thickness to preference.
