Ingredients

Bacon Options
  • 1 pack regular cut bacon Best for super crispy strips and quicker bake time.
  • 1 pack thick cut bacon Meatier bite, takes longer to cook.
  • 1 pack center cut bacon Leaner, watch closely to prevent overcooking.
  • to taste applewood smoked or hickory smoked bacon Adds extra flavor.
  • to taste sweetened bacon (like maple) May need lower temperature or closer monitoring.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (or 375°F if your oven runs hot).
  2. Option 1: Line a sheet pan with foil or parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  3. Option 2: Place a wire rack in a sheet pan to allow grease to drip.
  4. Lay the bacon strips in a single layer without overlapping.
Cooking
  1. Bake regular cut bacon for about 14 to 18 minutes and thick cut bacon for about 18 to 24 minutes.
  2. Start checking the bacon for doneness at the 12-minute mark for regular cut, and every 2 minutes thereafter.
  3. Once done, transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess grease.
Serving
  1. Serve bacon with eggs, toast, or use in sandwiches and salads.
  2. Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days.

Notes

Cleanup is easier with a lined tray. Be cautious of hot rendered fat when pulling the tray out. Bacon crisps more as it cools, so pull it just before it's as crispy as you want it.
