Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 12 pieces Oreo cookies Classic works best, but any flavor is fine
  • 1 cup Chocolate melting wafers or chocolate chips Dark or milk chocolate
  • 1 teaspoon Coconut oil or shortening Optional, helps the chocolate melt smoother
  • 24 pieces Pretzel sticks For legs
  • 12 pieces Candy eyes
  • 1 piece Parchment paper or wax paper For lining trays

Method

Preparation
  1. Set out all ingredients and tools before starting.
  2. In a microwave safe bowl, melt the chocolate in 20 to 30 second bursts, stirring each time. Use coconut oil if necessary for smoother melting.
  3. Dip the Oreo in the melted chocolate using a fork, ensuring it's fully coated, then lift it out and tap gently to remove excess chocolate.
  4. Immediately add 4 pretzel legs on each side of the dipped Oreo, tucking them into the chocolate.
  5. Place candy eyes on top of the Oreo by pressing them into the chocolate before it sets.
Storage
  1. Once the chocolate is fully set, store the cookies in a single layer in an airtight container. Use parchment paper between layers if stacking.

Notes

Make these cookies a day or two ahead of time as they store well. For a variation, use white chocolate and colored candy melts for decoration.
