These gluten-free mozzarella sticks are crunchy on the outside and melty inside, making them a perfect snack for any occasion.

Ingredients
  

Cheese
  • 10 sticks String cheese or low moisture mozzarella Cut into thick sticks if using a block.
Breading
  • 1 cup Gluten free flour or cornstarch For the first dusting.
  • 2 large Eggs Beaten with a pinch of salt.
  • 1 cup Gluten free breadcrumbs or crushed gluten free cornflakes For coating.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder For seasoning.
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder For seasoning.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning For seasoning.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper For seasoning.
Oil for frying
  • 4 cups Canola or vegetable oil For frying.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Pick the right cheese and cut it into thick sticks.
  2. Set up a simple gluten free breading station with flour, beaten eggs, and seasoned breadcrumbs.
  3. Coat the cheese sticks with flour, dip in egg, and then coat with breadcrumbs. Repeat the egg and breadcrumb steps.
  4. Freeze the coated sticks for at least 1 to 2 hours, ideally overnight.
Cooking
  1. Heat the oil to around 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fry the sticks in small batches for about 45 seconds to 1 minute until golden brown.
  3. Move cooked sticks to a paper towel-lined plate to drain and let rest for about 2 minutes.
Serving
  1. Serve with marinara sauce, ranch, or your favorite dip.

Notes

For extra crispiness, freeze the sticks longer and ensure not to overcrowd the frying pot. Try adding spices or different cheeses for variation.
