Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 box Jell-O (3 oz, any flavor you like) Strawberry or Lime Jell-O works well.
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 2 to 3 cups ice cream Vanilla is classic, but feel free to experiment.
Optional Ingredients
  • 1 2 to 3 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk For extra creaminess.
  • to taste fruit, sprinkles, mini marshmallows, crushed cookies Add for extra fun and flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, dissolve the Jell-O powder in 1 cup boiling water. Stir until fully dissolved, about 1 to 2 minutes.
  2. Stir in 1 cup of cold water and let it sit on the counter for 10 to 15 minutes to cool down.
  3. While it cools, let your ice cream soften at room temperature for 5 to 10 minutes.
  4. Lightly grease your mold with neutral oil or line it with plastic wrap for easier release.
Layering
  1. Pour a small amount of the cooled Jell-O into your mold, just enough to coat the bottom. Chill for 20 to 30 minutes until tacky.
  2. Spread a layer of softened ice cream over the tacky Jell-O and smooth it out gently. Freeze for 30 to 45 minutes until firm.
  3. Repeat layers of Jell-O and ice cream until all ingredients are used up, finishing with ice cream.
  4. Cover and freeze for at least 4 hours, but overnight is best.
Serving
  1. To serve, dip the mold briefly in warm water, invert onto a plate, slice, and enjoy.
  2. Use a knife dipped in hot water between slices for neat layers.
