Ingredients

For the Honey Glaze
  • 1 cup Honey Any brand, no need to splurge.
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar Light or dark both work.
  • 1 tbsp Dijon Mustard Adds sharpness; yellow mustard works too.
  • 4 tbsp Butter Richness that melts into the sauce.
  • 1/2 tsp Cloves or Cinnamon Optional for a warm holiday feel.
  • 1/4 cup Orange or Pineapple Juice For tangy sweetness.
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
For the Ham
  • 1 whole Bone-in or Boneless Ham Boneless is easier; bone-in looks fancy.

Method

Making the Glaze
  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, mix together honey and brown sugar.
  2. Add melted butter and stir gently while heating. Keep an eye on it to avoid a sticky mess.
  3. Once the sugar is melted, whisk in Dijon mustard, splash of orange or pineapple juice, and seasoning.
  4. Continue stirring for about 3-4 minutes until it thickens but remains pourable.
Baking the Ham
  1. Preheat the oven according to ham package instructions.
  2. Slather most of the glaze over the ham and roast uncovered.
  3. Baste the ham every so often, adding more glaze towards the end for a shiny appearance.

Notes

Wrap leftover slices tightly in foil or plastic wrap. Store in an airtight container for 3-5 days in the fridge, or freeze for up to two months. Reheat gently to keep the ham juicy.
