Ingredients

For the Deviled Egg Base
  • 6 large Large eggs Boiled and cooled
  • 3 tablespoons Mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Yellow mustard or Dijon
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 pinch Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Pickle juice or vinegar Optional for tang
For the Mummy Wraps
  • 3 strips String cheese Cut into thin strips
  • 3 tablespoons Sour cream Optional for piping
For the Eyes
  • 6 slices Black olives Sliced

Method

Preparation
  1. Boil your eggs, then cool them completely in an ice bath for 10 minutes.
  2. Peel the eggs and slice them lengthwise.
  3. Scoop the yolks into a bowl and mash them with mayo, mustard, salt, pepper, and pickle juice if desired.
  4. Spoon or pipe the filling back into the egg whites.
Assembly
  1. Make the mummy wraps by laying thin strips of string cheese across the top in crisscross lines, leaving gaps for the eyes.
  2. Add the eyes using small olive slices, pressing them into the filling for stability.

Notes

For a spicier variation, mix in paprika, cayenne, or horseradish into the yolk filling. Eggs that are not ultra fresh will peel easier. Make the filling thick to prevent wraps from sliding off. Assemble shortly before serving for the best appearance and taste.
