Ingredients
  

Beans
  • 4 cups green beans (about 2 pounds fresh, or 24 to 28 ounces frozen, or 2 cans drained well) Choose based on preference: fresh, frozen, or canned.
Cream Sauce
  • 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup (10.5 ounces)
  • 0.5 cup milk Adjust amount for desired thickness.
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce (optional) Adds a savory boost.
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • pinch salt (if needed) Depends on beans and soup.
Topping
  • 1 1/3 cups crispy fried onions, divided Reserve some for topping.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. If using fresh beans, boil them for about 5 minutes, then drain. If frozen, thaw and drain. If canned, drain very well.
  2. In a large bowl, stir together soup, milk, soy sauce, garlic powder, pepper, and about 2/3 cup of the fried onions.
  3. Add the green beans and mix until everything is coated. Pour into your baking dish.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25 minutes at 350°F (175°C).
  2. Remove from oven and sprinkle the remaining onions on top, then bake again for 5 to 10 minutes until bubbly and golden.

Notes

If you want it thicker, use a little less milk, and for extra crunch, add more onions before serving. It can be made ahead of time and refrigerated before baking.
