Ingredients
  

For the cookie dough
  • 1 cup butter, room temperature Use room temperature butter, not melted.
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 to 2 cups chocolate chips You can adjust based on preference.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 F. Lightly grease a 9 inch round pan or line it with parchment.
  2. In a big bowl, mix the butter with the brown sugar and white sugar until it looks creamy.
  3. Stir in the eggs and vanilla until glossy and smooth.
  4. Add flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir just until combined, then fold in chocolate chips.
  5. Press the dough evenly into the pan.
Baking
  1. Bake about 20 to 25 minutes for a 9 inch pan until the edges are set and lightly golden, and the center is just slightly soft.
  2. Cool in the pan for at least 20 to 30 minutes before decorating.

Notes

Use room temp butter for best results. Don't overmix once flour is added. Underbake slightly for a soft center.
