Ingredients
  

Base Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Gluten-free flour can be used as a substitute.
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted Can use salted butter.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Filling Ingredients
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips Milk chocolate can be used instead.
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans Do not skip these; they are essential.
  • 1 cup soft caramel candies, unwrapped Homemade caramel sauce can be used.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Grease a 9x13 inch pan or line with parchment paper.
  3. In a bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, melted butter, and salt until crumbly.
  4. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  5. Bake the crust for 15 minutes.
Filling
  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the unwrapped caramel candies and sweetened condensed milk.
  2. Heat in the microwave for 45 seconds, stir, and repeat until smooth.
  3. Pour the caramel mixture over the baked crust.
  4. Sprinkle the chopped pecans evenly over the caramel.
  5. Scatter the chocolate chips on top.
  6. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
  7. Remove from the oven and allow to cool before cutting into bars.

Notes

For serving, enjoy straight from the pan while warm or chilled for cleaner cuts. Drizzle with extra caramel or melted chocolate for an indulgent touch.
