Easy Tuna Melt Sandwich

Ingredients
  

Tuna Salad
  • 1 can Canned tuna, drained Albacore or chunk light
  • 2 tbsp Mayonnaise Greek yogurt can be used for a tangy flavor
  • 1 tsp Mustard Yellow or Dijon
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • 1 stalk Celery or pickles, chopped For added crunch
Sandwich Assembly
  • 4 slices Bread Sourdough, wheat, white, or rye
  • 2 slices Cheese Cheddar, Swiss, or Pepper jack
  • 2 tbsp Butter For grilling the bread

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Drain the canned tuna thoroughly and mix it with mayonnaise, mustard, salt, pepper, and chopped celery or pickles.
  2. Butter the outside of the bread slices.
Cooking
  1. Place a slice of bread, butter side down, in a skillet over medium to medium-low heat.
  2. Layer with cheese, then add the tuna mixture, followed by another slice of cheese and top with another slice of bread, butter side up.
  3. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula to ensure it grills evenly.

Notes

For an extra melty sandwich, add more cheese and let the tuna salad sit at room temperature for 5 to 10 minutes before grilling. Serve with tomato soup, chips, or a simple salad for a complete meal.
