Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 8 ounces Egg noodles or any short pasta Cook until barely tender
  • 1 can Canned tuna in water, drained well Do not squeeze it bone dry
  • 10.5 ounces Cream of mushroom soup Can substitute with cream of chicken
  • 1/2 cup Milk To loosen the sauce
  • 1 cup Shredded cheese (cheddar or blend) Add extra for a richer taste
  • 1 cup Frozen peas Optional, but recommended
Seasonings
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Onion powder
Topping
  • 1/2 cup Crushed crackers or buttered breadcrumbs For added crunch

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the egg noodles according to package instructions until barely tender. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine drained tuna, cream of mushroom soup, milk, shredded cheese, frozen peas, and seasonings. Mix well.
Assembly
  1. Add the cooked noodles to the mixture and stir until everything is evenly coated.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and spread evenly.
  3. Top with crushed crackers or breadcrumbs.
  4. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  5. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the top is golden.

Notes

This casserole freezes well. Assemble but do not bake, wrap tightly and freeze. Thaw overnight before baking. Add extra sauce if planned for freezing to prevent drying out after reheating.
