Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C) and lightly grease a 9 x 13 baking dish.
- In a large bowl, stir together the cooked chicken, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, and a splash of broth. If using, add the mixed veggies, and season with salt and pepper.
Making the stuffing
- In a separate bowl, combine the Stove Top stuffing mix with hot broth. Let it sit for a minute to soften.
Assembly and Baking
- Spread the chicken mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- Spoon the stuffing over the top and gently spread it out.
- Bake for about 20 minutes, or until hot and bubbling around the edges. For a golden topping, bake for an additional 3-5 minutes.
- Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving to allow it to set.
Notes
Use warm broth for quicker softening of stuffing. Do not add too much broth to keep the chicken layer creamy. For a crispier topping, broil for 1-2 minutes after baking.
