Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter, softened If using salted butter, skip any added salt.
  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar Superfine sugar can also be used.
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour Spoon into measuring cup and level off.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Line a baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the softened butter and sugar together until smooth and a little fluffy.
  3. Add the flour and mix just until there are no dry patches.
  4. Press the dough into the pan or shape it into a round and flatten it.
  5. Dock the top with a fork to help it bake evenly.
Baking
  1. Bake for about 25 to 35 minutes until the top looks set and the edges are pale golden.
  2. Cool in the pan before slicing.

Notes

To achieve the best texture, do not overmix the dough, and if it's warm, chill it before baking. Store in an airtight container for about a week.
