Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour nothing fancy
  • 1 cup granulated sugar don’t skimp
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup milk just regular old milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract the real thing if you’ve got it
Main Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans don’t be shy here
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar trust me
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. Grab a 9×13-inch baking dish and pour in the melted butter.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
  4. Stir in the milk and vanilla until mostly smooth.
  5. Pour the batter over the melted butter, do not stir.
  6. Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the top.
  7. Sprinkle brown sugar over the entire mixture.
  8. Carefully pour the hot water over the top without stirring.
Baking
  1. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
  2. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve while warm, topped with vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce for extra indulgence. Keep leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days, reheating as needed.
