Preparation
- Add rolled oats to your jar or container.
- Add chia seeds (if using), a pinch of salt, and any dry flavorings like cinnamon or cocoa.
- Pour in milk and add yogurt.
- Add sweetener, then stir really well. Make sure no dry oats are stuck at the bottom.
- Add fruit or toppings now, or save them for the morning if you want them fresher.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, ideally overnight.
Flavor Combinations
- 1) Strawberry Vanilla: Stir in vanilla and a little honey, then add chopped strawberries.
- 2) Blueberry Lemon: Add lemon zest and blueberries. Add a squeeze of lemon juice in the morning.
- 3) Apple Cinnamon: Mix cinnamon, diced apple, and maple syrup.
- 4) Banana Bread: Mash half a banana into the mix, slice the rest on top with cinnamon and chocolate chips.
- 5) Chocolate Peanut Butter: Mix cocoa powder with peanut butter.
Notes
Overnight oats keep well for 3 to 4 days in the fridge. Best stored in an airtight container. Add toppings like granola or fresh fruit just before eating to keep them crunchy.
