Easy Meatball Sliders

Ingredients
  

For the Meatballs
  • 1 lb Ground beef (or beef and pork mix) Choose a mix for added flavor
  • 1 large Egg Bind the meatball mix
  • 1 cup Bread crumbs Plain or Italian style
  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan For flavor
  • 2 cloves Minced garlic For flavor
  • 1 tsp Salt Adjust to taste
  • 1 tsp Pepper Adjust to taste
  • 2 tbsp Chopped parsley or dried Italian seasoning For added flavor
  • 1 tbsp Milk or water To keep meatballs tender
For the Sliders
  • 12 pieces Soft dinner rolls or Hawaiian rolls Choose based on preference
  • 2 cups Marinara sauce For layering
  • 2 cups Mozzarella cheese Can substitute half with provolone for variety
  • 2 tbsp Melted butter For brushing tops
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder To mix with butter
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning To mix with butter

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Slice your rolls in half keeping the tops and bottoms connected.
  3. Place the bottom slab in a baking dish.
  4. Spoon a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bread.
  5. Add meatballs, one per roll, or two if they are small.
  6. Spoon more marinara over the meatballs.
  7. Add cheese, using mozzarella and parmesan.
  8. Put the top slab of rolls on.
  9. Brush the tops with melted butter mixed with garlic powder and Italian seasoning.
  10. Cover with foil and bake for about 12 to 15 minutes, then uncover and bake for 5 more minutes until golden brown.
  11. Let them sit for a couple minutes before cutting.
Serving
  1. Place the baking dish on a counter and let people grab their own sliders.
  2. Serve with extra marinara on the side for dipping.

Notes

To prep ahead, make meatballs and sauce up to 2 days ahead. Assemble sliders a few hours prior, omitting the butter topping until baking.
