Ingredients
  

For the Bowl
  • 2 cups short grain rice You can also use jasmine or long grain rice.
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20) Leaner beef can also be used, but avoid overcooking.
  • 4 large eggs Fried eggs are traditional; over easy is preferred.
  • 1 medium onion Optional, adds sweetness to patty or gravy.
  • 2 cups gravy Can be homemade or made from pan drippings.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Cook the rice according to package instructions.
  2. While the rice cooks, shape ground beef into patties, season with salt.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the patties until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per side.
Gravy Preparation
  1. In the same skillet, keep some drippings if available, then add flour and stir until smooth.
  2. Slowly add beef broth while whisking until the gravy thickens.
  3. Add a splash of Worcestershire sauce to deepen the flavor.
Assembly
  1. Serve the rice as the base in bowls.
  2. Top with a beef patty, pour gravy over the patty, and finally, add a fried egg on top.

Notes

Feel free to adjust the seasoning and heat level to your preference. Leftovers can be stored separately and reheated for a fresh taste.
