Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 12 pieces Pretzel rods Look for thicker rods if you can. They dip easier and snap less.
  • 1 cup Chocolate or candy melts White candy melts give the best eyeball look, but white chocolate chips work too.
  • 1 teaspoon Oil or shortening A tiny bit can help the chocolate melt smoother.
  • 12 pieces Candy eyeballs The little edible kind in the baking aisle.
  • 1 tube Black decorating gel or icing For the monster veins and pupils.
  • 1 cup Sprinkles Orange, purple, black, or any spooky mix.
Optional Extras
  • 1 cup Crushed cookies For dirt.
  • 1/2 cup Mini chocolate chips For decoration.
  • 1 tube Red gel For veins.

Method

Preparation
  1. Melt the chocolate or candy melts using your preferred method (microwave or double boiler) until smooth.
  2. Dip about two thirds of each pretzel rod in the melted chocolate, ensuring a good coating.
  3. Gently tap off the excess chocolate and lay the dipped pretzel rods on parchment paper.
  4. Before the chocolate sets, place an edible candy eyeball near the top of the coated section.
  5. Add red gel to create veins if desired.
Design Variations
  1. For mummy wrap pretzel rods, dip in white coating, then drizzle more white coating back and forth in thin lines to mimic mummy wraps. Add candy eyes or mini chocolate chips.
  2. For sprinkle spook sticks, dip in white, orange, or dark chocolate and immediately roll or sprinkle with Halloween mix.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature. They stay crunchy for about 3 to 5 days, but are best within the first 2 days. Line your tray with parchment or wax paper and work in small batches to make the process easier.
