  • 1 9x13 pan brownies prepared as per mix instructions Follow the box directions or your homemade recipe.
Decorations
  • 1 container chocolate frosting Store-bought or homemade buttercream.
  • 1 cup chocolate cookie crumbs Crushed chocolate sandwich cookies.
  • 6-10 pieces tombstones Rectangular cookies, shortbread, or graham crackers cut into shapes.
  • 1 tube writing gel or melted chocolate For decorating tombstones with RIP.
  • 1 package gummy worms To decorate the dirt layer.
Optional spooky add-ons
  • 1 cup candy bones Optional for decoration.
  • 1 cup candy pumpkins Optional for decoration.
  • 1 cup sprinkles Optional for decoration.
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows Optional for decoration.

Method

Make the brownies
  1. Bake your brownies in a 9x13 pan according to the box or homemade recipe instructions, being careful not to overbake.
  2. Allow the brownies to cool completely before decorating.
Decorate like a graveyard
  1. Spread chocolate frosting over the cooled brownies in an even layer.
  2. Sprinkle cookie crumbs over the frosting to make the dirt, pressing down gently so they stick.
  3. Insert tombstones into the brownie, pushing them in about half an inch.
  4. Write RIP on the tombstones using the writing gel or melted chocolate.
  5. Add gummy worms, placing them halfway buried in the dirt.

Notes

Store the brownies in a covered container at room temperature if serving within 24 hours, or refrigerate for longer storage. Slice the brownies after chilling for easier cutting without disturbing the decorations. Keeping extra crumbs on the side can help cover any bald spots after slicing.
