Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease your cake pans and line the bottoms with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set it aside.
Mixing
- In a larger bowl, beat the butter and sugar until fluffy and lighter in color, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing after each. Then stir in the vanilla.
- Alternately add the dry ingredients and milk in turns, mixing just until combined.
Baking
- Gently fold in the sprinkles.
- Divide the batter into the prepared pans and bake for 22-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a rack to cool completely before frosting.
Frosting
- Frost with a simple vanilla buttercream made of butter, powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and a pinch of salt.
Notes
For best results, chill the frosted cake for 20-30 minutes before slicing. This helps the frosting set. Can be stored at room temperature for a day or refrigerated for up to 4 days.
