Ingredients
  

For the gnocchi
  • 1 package Shelf stable potato gnocchi Can use refrigerated or frozen gnocchi, adjust cooking time if using frozen.
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil For frying the gnocchi.
For the brown butter sage sauce
  • 4 tablespoons Butter Salted or unsalted, ensure medium heat to avoid burning.
  • 10 leaves Fresh sage leaves Add after the butter melts.
  • 1 clove Garlic Optional, add for the last 30 seconds.
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice For a touch of brightness.
  • to taste Salt and black pepper To season the dish.
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese For serving.

Method
 

Cooking Gnocchi
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil.
  2. Add the gnocchi in a single layer. If the pan is crowded, cook in batches.
  3. Let it sit for about 3 minutes until a golden crust forms, then flip or stir.
  4. Continue cooking for 5 to 7 minutes, shaking the pan occasionally, until browned and crisp.
Making the Sauce
  1. Push the gnocchi to the sides and add butter in the center of the pan.
  2. Once the butter melts and foams, add sage leaves.
  3. When the butter turns golden brown and smells nutty, toss everything together.
  4. If using garlic, add it in the last 30 seconds of cooking.
Finishing Touches
  1. Finish the dish with lemon juice, pepper, and parmesan cheese.

Notes

Avoid boiling the gnocchi beforehand for optimal crispiness. Use medium heat to prevent the butter from burning.
