Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup Brown sugar Packed
  • 3/4 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 tsp Vanilla extract
Mix-Ins
  • 1 cup Old-fashioned oats Not quick oats for best texture
  • 1 cup Chocolate chips Semi-sweet recommended
  • 1 cup Pecans, chopped Toast for better flavor if desired

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until fluffy.
  4. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract; mix until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined to avoid overmixing.
  6. Fold in the oats, chocolate chips, and pecans using a sturdy spoon.
Baking
  1. Scoop dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each scoop.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes until centers look slightly underdone.
  3. Remove from oven and allow to cool on the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

Notes

If the dough feels greasy, chill it for 20-30 minutes before baking for thicker cookies. Enjoy experimenting with add-ins and toppings based on your preference.
