Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup Softened butter Salted or unsalted both work well.
  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour Spoon into measuring cup and level off.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the flour and mix gently until you no longer see dry flour. The dough may look crumbly at first but will come together.
  4. Shape the cookies by rolling them into 1-inch balls and flattening them, pressing the dough into a small baking pan and cutting into squares, or rolling out and using cookie cutters.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 12 to 16 minutes, or until the bottoms are lightly golden.
  2. Let the cookies cool on the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Chill the dough if it's too soft or sticky. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 7 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
