Ingredients

For the dip base
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened Make sure it's softened for easy mixing
  • 1/3 to 1/2 cup powdered sugar, to taste Start with less and add more if needed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons milk or cream Use if you want a looser consistency
For the topping
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup caramel sauce Store-bought is fine
  • to taste Toppings: chopped peanuts, chopped pecans, mini chocolate chips, toffee bits, or flaky salt Use your favorites
For dipping
  • 2 medium apples, sliced Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Pink Lady recommended

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, stir or beat the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla until it looks smooth and fluffy.
  2. If it feels too thick for dipping, add a splash of milk and mix again.
  3. Spoon the cream cheese mixture onto a plate or shallow bowl and smooth it into an even layer.
  4. Pour caramel sauce over the top and gently spread it out. Swirl it if desired.
  5. Sprinkle your chosen toppings over the caramel layer.
  6. Slice apples right before serving to keep them crisp. Toss them with a little lemon juice if sliced early to prevent browning.

Notes

Soften cream cheese on purpose for easier mixing. Can be made a day ahead; add caramel and toppings just before serving. A shallow dish works best for easy scooping.
