Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, cream the softened butter with brown sugar and white sugar until smooth and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla, mixing until glossy and combined.
- Stir in the black sesame powder or paste until the dough turns a dark gray.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the dry mixture to the wet mixture and stir until no dry flour remains. Avoid overmixing.
- Scoop the dough into 1 to 1.5 tablespoon balls and place them on the baking sheet, leaving space between.
Baking
- Bake for 9 to 12 minutes until the edges are set and centers are slightly soft.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack to finish cooling.
Notes
These cookies should be slightly underbaked for soft centers. Use softened butter, not melted, to prevent spreading. Chilling the dough can help it hold shape in hot conditions.
