Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp Baking powder
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 1 tsp Salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar Or half granulated, half brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup Neutral oil Canola or vegetable
  • 1 cup Plain yogurt Greek yogurt works too, just loosen with more milk if needed.
  • 1/2 cup Milk Any kind
  • 1/3 cup Black sesame paste
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
Optional Topping
  • 1/4 cup Toasted black sesame seeds For sprinkling on top

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 8-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Mixing
  1. In another bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar until smooth. Add the oil, yogurt, milk, vanilla, and black sesame paste; stir until glossy.
  2. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring just until no dry flour remains.
Baking
  1. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for about 24 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  2. Cool cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Serving
  1. Frost with your choice of frosting and optionally sprinkle toasted black sesame seeds on top.

Notes

For a lighter flavor, consider using whipped cream frosting, or for a richer experience, vanilla cream cheese frosting. Allow the cake to sit for a few hours for maximum flavor.
