Ingredients
  

For the Casserole
  • 1 tube Refrigerated biscuit dough Use store-bought for convenience or homemade if you have time.
  • 1 lb Breakfast sausage Can be mild or spicy.
  • 1/4 cup Flour For making the gravy.
  • 2 cups Milk For making the gravy.
  • to taste Salt and pepper For seasoning.
  • 2 tbsp Butter or cooking spray For greasing the baking dish.
  • 6-8 Eggs Optional, for a more set casserole.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  2. In a skillet, brown the breakfast sausage over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess grease if necessary.
  3. Stir in the flour and cook for one minute, mixing well, to avoid a raw flour taste.
  4. Gradually add the milk, stirring continuously, to create a smooth gravy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Assembly
  1. Layer the biscuit pieces in the greased baking dish.
  2. Pour the sausage gravy over the biscuit pieces.
  3. If using, whisk the eggs with a splash of milk, add a pinch of salt and pepper, then pour over the gravy.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and the center is bubbly.
  2. Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

You can add cheese, a different type of meat, or additional veggies for variations. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
