Preparation
- Infuse the milk by warming it until just hot, add the Earl Grey tea bags, and let steep for about 5 minutes. Squeeze bags gently and cool the milk.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your baking pans.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt until evenly mixed.
- In another bowl, cream softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients and cooled Earl Grey milk, mixing gently until smooth. Avoid overmixing.
Baking
- Pour the batter into greased pans and bake for approximately 22-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Frosting
- Beat the butter until creamy, then slowly add the powdered sugar and mix in the honey.
- Crush a pinch of culinary lavender and mix it into the frosting, adding a splash of milk or cream to achieve a spreadable consistency.
- Once the cake is fully cooled, frost the top and sides as desired.
Notes
For a rustic look, spread frosting simply on the top of the cake. Add optional decorations like a drizzle of honey or lemon slices before serving.
