Main Ingredients
  • 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken thighs or breasts Thighs are recommended for juiciness.
  • 1/2 cup Fireball cinnamon whisky Provides signature kick and flavor.
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce Use your favorite, smoky is great.
  • 1/4 cup honey or brown sugar For sticky glaze.
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce Adds salty depth.
  • 1 tsp garlic Use powder or minced.
  • 1 tsp onion powder Or a few sliced onions for more texture.
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch Optional for thickening the sauce.
  • 2 tbsp cold water To mix with cornstarch for thickening.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Put your chicken in the bottom of the crock pot.
  2. In a bowl, stir together BBQ sauce, Fireball, honey or brown sugar, soy sauce, and garlic.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken and coat it well.
Cooking
  1. Cook on LOW for about 4 to 6 hours or HIGH for about 2 to 3 hours, until chicken is easily pulled apart.
Finishing Touches
  1. Shred the chicken in the crock pot with two forks.
  2. If a thicker sauce is desired, mix cornstarch with cold water, stir it in, and let it cook for another 10 to 15 minutes.
  3. Taste and adjust the flavor if necessary (add honey if too spicy, or vinegar/soy sauce if too sweet).

Notes

This dish can be served on buns, over rice, in tacos, with mashed potatoes, or on a salad. It can be made ahead and reheats well. For added flavor, consider pairing it with sides that cool down the heat.
