  • 1 cup sour cream The classic base, tangy and thick.
  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened) Makes it fuller and gives that scoopable body.
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise (optional) Adds a silky finish to the dip.
Flavorings
  • 1 clove garlic (fresh grated or garlic powder) Use fresh for a bold taste, or powder for a smoother flavor.
  • 1 tsp dried dill Provides a herby flavor.
  • 1 tsp dried parsley or chopped fresh parsley For freshness and color.
  • 1 tbsp chives or green onion (fresh if possible) Adds oniony bite.
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder Rounds everything out.
  • to taste salt and black pepper Start small and adjust.
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (optional) A squeeze to brighten it up.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, mix together the sour cream, softened cream cheese, and mayonnaise (if using) until smooth.
  2. Add the grated garlic, dried dill, parsley, chives, onion powder, salt, and pepper to the bowl.
  3. Stir until all ingredients are well combined.
  4. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary, then chill for at least 30 minutes before serving for best flavor.

Notes

The dip can be served with ridged potato chips, fresh veggies, or toasted pita wedges. If desired, sprinkle with additional chives and black pepper before serving. Leftovers can last in a sealed container for 3 to 4 days in the fridge. Give it a stir before serving, as it may loosen slightly as it sits.
