  • 8 ounces Cream cheese Softened for easy mixing.
  • 1/4 cup Butter Softened for easy mixing.
  • 2 cups Powdered sugar Add gradually to avoid a sugar cloud.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract Enhances flavor.

Method

Preparing the Dough
  1. Warm the milk until it feels like a warm bath, then add active dry yeast and let it sit until foamy.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine sugar, eggs, melted butter, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add the warm milk mixture to the bowl, mixing thoroughly.
  4. Slowly add flour, mixing until the dough forms. It should be slightly sticky.
  5. Knead the dough until it is smooth and elastic. Let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 45-90 minutes.
Making the Filling
  1. Combine brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.
Assembling the Rolls
  1. Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface.
  2. Spread softened butter over the surface of the dough.
  3. Evenly sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the buttered dough.
  4. Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 12 slices.
  5. Place slices in a greased 9x13 inch pan and let rise again until doubled.
Baking
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 25 minutes or until lightly golden.
Frosting
  1. Beat softened cream cheese and butter until smooth.
  2. Gradually mix in powdered sugar and vanilla extract until combined.
  3. Frost the rolls while they are still warm, allowing the frosting to melt into the rolls.

Notes

These cinnamon rolls can be made ahead of time. Assemble and refrigerate overnight. Let sit at room temperature before baking. To store, keep in an airtight container; warm in the microwave for a few seconds to rejuvenate softness.
