Ingredients
  

For the glaze
  • 1 cup maple syrup Use real maple syrup for best flavor.
  • 1 cup brown sugar Packed brown sugar is recommended.
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard Yellow mustard can be used as a substitute.
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar Adds a tangy flavor to the glaze.
  • 1 pinch ground cloves Optional, for added flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest Optional, for a zesty twist.
For the ham
  • 1 whole fully cooked ham Spiral cut for easier serving.
  • 1 cup water For the roasting pan.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Let the ham sit out for about an hour to lose the fridge chill.
  2. Preheat your oven to 325°F.
  3. Score the outside of the ham in a diamond pattern.
  4. Pour the water into the roasting pan to keep the ham moist.
  5. Brush half of the glaze all over the ham.
Cooking
  1. Bake the ham uncovered, basting with glaze every 20 minutes.
  2. For the last 15 minutes, increase the oven temperature to caramelize the glaze.

Notes

Use any leftover ham for sandwiches or in scrambled eggs. Check the pan for burning bits and add water if necessary. This recipe works without fuss and yields delicious results.
