  • 1/2 cup Crushed candy canes For a festive touch.
  • 1/4 cup Colorful sprinkles For visual appeal.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil, then parchment on top for easy cleanup.
  2. Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer, salt side up, without crushing or overlapping.
Cooking Toffee
  1. Melt butter with brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until smooth.
  2. Bring to a gentle boil and cook for about 3 minutes, stirring often, until thick and glossy with bubbles.
Baking
  1. Carefully pour hot toffee over the crackers and spread to cover.
  2. Bake at 350°F for about 5 minutes, until bubbling all over.
Adding Chocolate
  1. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
  2. Wait a minute, then spread melted chocolate into a smooth layer.
Chilling
  1. If desired, add toppings before chilling.
  2. Chill until firm, then break into pieces. Store in an airtight container.
