Ingredients

For the Cake Center
  • 1 box cake mix (any flavor: vanilla, chocolate, red velvet, spice) Choose a flavor that complements your desired coating.
  • 1 cup binder (frosting or cream cheese) Use enough binder to create a coherent mixture.
For the Coating
  • 2 cups candy melts or chocolate Red, green, or white candy melts work best for Christmas.
For Decoration
  • 1 cup colored sprinkles Use red and green sprinkles or other themed decorations.
  • 1 bag edible decorations (eyes, stars, etc.) For designs like snowmen or Christmas trees.

Method

Preparation
  1. Bake the cake mix according to the instructions. Let it cool completely.
  2. Crumble the cooled cake into a large bowl and mix in the binder until you achieve a dough-like consistency.
  3. Form the mixture into small balls (about 1 inch in diameter) and place them on a baking tray.
  4. Insert a stick into each cake ball and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Coating
  1. Melt the candy melts or chocolate according to the package instructions.
  2. Dip each chilled cake pop into the melted coating, fully covering it.
  3. Allow excess coating to drip off before placing the coated cake pop upright in a stand or styrofoam.
Decorating
  1. While the coating is still wet, sprinkle with your chosen decorations.
  2. Let the decorated cake pops set completely before serving.

Notes

For best results, ensure the cake center is not too moist. Allow the coating to fully set before packaging or serving. Cake pops are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in the fridge if containing perishable ingredients.
