Ingredients
  

Brownie Layer
  • 1 cup Butter Melted
  • 8 oz Semi-sweet or dark chocolate Chopped
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 4 large Eggs
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Flour All-purpose
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
Mousse Layer
  • 1 cup Heavy cream Cold
  • 4 oz Dark or bittersweet chocolate Melted and cooled
  • 2 tbsp Cocoa powder Optional for deeper flavor

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt the butter and chocolate together in a bowl until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
  4. Add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg mixture and combine.
  5. Mix in flour and salt until just combined.
  6. Pour the brownie batter into a greased 8-inch square pan and spread evenly.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes or until the brownies are set in the center.
  8. Allow brownies to cool completely in the pan.
Mousse Preparation
  1. Whip the cold heavy cream in a bowl until soft peaks form.
  2. Gently fold the melted chocolate into the whipped cream in two or three additions until fully incorporated.
Assembly
  1. Spread the mousse over the cooled brownie layer evenly.
  2. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 3 to 4 hours, or overnight for the best result.
  3. Slice with a warm knife for clean edges before serving.

Notes

For best results, use high-quality chocolate. Store brownies covered in the refrigerator and consume within 3 to 4 days.
