- In a medium saucepan, whisk together the cocoa powder, sugar, flour, and salt while everything is still dry.
- Slowly pour in the milk while whisking, keeping the whisk moving to achieve a smooth chocolate milk consistency.
- Set the pan over medium heat and continue whisking often until it starts to thicken and gently bubbles.
- Turn off the heat and stir in the butter and vanilla extract.
Notes
Serve warm over biscuits, pancakes, or ice cream. If it thickens too much, whisk in a splash of milk. Can be made ahead of time and reheated.
