Ingredients
  

For the Toffee
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter Use unsalted butter for best flavor.
  • 1 cup Brown sugar Light or dark both work; dark gives a deeper flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract Adds warmth to the toffee flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Fine sea salt For a sprinkle at the end to enhance flavors.
For the Pretzels
  • 8 cups Mini pretzels Twists or snaps work best.
Optional Toppings
  • 1 cup Chocolate For drizzling, can be dark or milk chocolate.
  • 1/2 cup Chopped nuts Almonds or pecans recommended.
  • 1 tablespoon Cinnamon-sugar For a sweet, churro-like finish.
  • 1 pinch Cayenne pepper For a spicy-sweet variation.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Line a rimmed sheet pan with parchment paper and preheat your oven to 300°F.
  2. Pour the pretzels into a large mixing bowl.
Make the Toffee
  1. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Stir in the brown sugar and keep stirring until the mixture is smooth and starts to bubble.
  3. Allow it to bubble gently while stirring for 3 to 4 minutes until it is silky and cohesive.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
Coat the Pretzels
  1. Pour the hot toffee over the pretzels and toss carefully until all pretzels are coated.
  2. Spread the coated pretzels in a single layer on the lined baking sheet.
  3. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring halfway through.
  4. Sprinkle with fine sea salt while hot and let them cool completely on the pan.

Notes

Store in airtight containers for up to a week. Adjust the salt and sweetness as needed based on pretzel type. Can add toppings as desired.
